「岡山後楽園 なるほど講座」のお知らせ
『無鄰菴』の指定管理者として管理運営を行っている「植彌加藤造園」の無鄰菴プログラムディレクター・山田咲が、日本三名園『岡山後楽園』で行われる公開講座「岡山後楽園 なるほど講座」で講義いたします。
講座のテーマは『わかりやすい！ 名勝（文化財）庭園の保存管理と 活用について-無鄰菴を事例に-』。
開催日程は2月17日(月)、申込締切日は2月13日(木)です。お近くの方、京都の文化財庭園の活用について興味がある方など、ぜひこの機会にお越しくださいませ。

無鄰菴在釜／Tuesdays: Japanese Tea
1月28日（火）は無鄰菴在釜の日です。
先週の在釜は俵屋宗達「国宝 源氏物語関屋澪標図屏風(高精細複製)」の前で開催しました。大きな金色の屏風の前で召し上がっていただくお抹茶ははいつも以上に特別な体験かも。屏風は2月末まで設置しておりますので1月2月の在釜でも屏風のお部屋で召し上がっていただけますよ。ぜひ、無鄰菴在釜にお越しください。スタッフ一同おまちしております。
無鄰菴在釜は毎週火曜日午前9時から午後4時まで開催しております。
どなたでも気軽に体験していただけます。お作法をご存知なくても大丈夫！

週末庭園めぐり
1月26日（日）の午前中、週末庭園巡りを開催いたしました。お日様の温かな日差しの中、コンシェルジュガイドドとともに各所を一緒に巡って、お庭の景色と解説を堪能していただきました。
「2度目の訪問でツアーに参加させていただきました。何となく回っていた初回よりも色々とお話を聞くことで、発見が多かったり知識が得られたり、とても有意義な時を持つことができました。季節毎に表情が変わるお庭の様子も実感しましたので、また伺いたいと思っております。」とコメントをいただきました。

コゲラの来訪
大きなスダジイの大樹の幹に水平に止まり、時々コツコツと音を立てながら樹皮の割れ目や苔の隙間から餌を捕る姿がありました。尾羽の中央の2枚は軸がとても硬く、足指とこの尾羽で体を支えながら器用に移動することが出来ます。全身は雄雌ともに同じ色合いをしていますが、オスは頭の後ろに赤い羽がわずかにあるため、このコゲラはメスになります。

A Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker Visits Murin-an
Landing flat on the trunk of Murin-an’s large Itajii Chinkapin, there was a bird occasionally making a pecking sound while catching food from between cracks in the tree bark and gaps in the moss. This bird’s two central tail feathers have very hard stems and it can move nimbly by supporting its body with its toes and these feathers. Both males and females have the same colors all over their bodies, but males have a slight trace of red feathers behind their head, which means that this bird is female.
苔の移植
受付前の苔を一時的にプランターに移しました。排管工事のため、スコップで地面を掘り起こすと、アブラゼミの幼虫が顔を覗かせました。申し訳なく思い、そっと土をかぶせました。何年後かに、また会いましょうね。工事が終了したので、現在、苔は元の位置に戻しています。

Transplanting Moss
We temporarily moved the moss in front of Murin-an’s reception window into a planter. While performing waste pipe installation, we dug up the ground with our spades to find large brown cicada (aburazemi) larvae poking their faces out. Feeling badly, we gently covered them in soil. Let’s meet again in a few years, cicadas. Now that the construction is finished, the moss has been restored to its original place.
「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson
1月22日（水）の午後、野鳥講座を母屋1階8畳間にて開催いたしました。冬鳥として飛来するアメリカヒドリについて、京都市内で見られる場所であったり、交雑種が入り込んでいることなどを特徴や生態のお話とともにお伝えいたしました。お話の中では、質問もたくさんあり、言葉のキャッチボールをしながらのミニ講座となりました。

Murin-an Wild Bird Mini-lecture
On the afternoon of January 22 (Wed.), we held a wild bird mini-lecture in the 8-tatami mat space on the first floor of Murin-an’s main house. We discussed the American Wigeon, a duck that migrates here in winter, including spots in Kyoto where it is seen, the crossbreeds that exist with other duck species, and other characteristics and facts about its ecology. There were also many questions at today’s lecture, with lots of back and forth discussion with our participants.
Murin-an’s weekly Wednesday “Wild Bird Mini-lecture” is held from 2:00-2:30 PM in the 8-tatami mat space in the main house of the first floor. We choose a wild bird species and discuss interesting characteristics about it and its ecology, while also looking out at the garden and explaining any wild birds that happen to fly by.
Our first twenty participants get an original postcard featuring the Murin-an wild bird discussed that week! Feel free to drop in.

ハクセキレイの訪れ
いつもはセグロセキレイが瀬落ちの付近で水中の昆虫を探しているのですが、この日はハクセキレイの訪れがありました。セグロセキレイは顔が黒く、白い眉毛（眉斑）があり、ハクセキレイの場合は顔の白い部分が広く目立ちます。色合いも似ていますが、よく見るとその違いが判ります。

A Black-backed Wagtail Visits Murin-an
Although we usually find Japanese Wagtails looking for insects in the water around Murin-an’s cascades, but today a Black-backed Wagtail came to visit. Whereas Japanese Wagtails have black faces and white stripes, Black-backed Wagtails have white areas on their faces that strongly stand out. While their colors resemble each other, you can tell the difference between them by taking a closer look.

苔の手入れ
モミジ林の樹木の根元にはスギゴケの仲間が生育しています。その周囲はハイゴケなどが辺り一面を覆う景観となっていますが、スギゴケとハイゴケの緑を魅せるため、円を描くようにスギゴケの外周ラインを整え、内円に入り込んでいるハイゴケを手作業で摘み取っていきました。お手入れをした箇所は濃淡の緑がくっきりと分かるようになっています。

Tending to the Moss
Relatives of Juniper haircap moss (sugigoke) grow around the roots of the trees in Murin-an’s maple grove. Surrounding them is a scene of carpet moss (haigoke) covering the area. To bring out the allure in the connection between the haircap moss and carpet moss, our gardeners organized the perimeter of the haircap moss into the outline of a circle and hand removed the carpet moss that had entered inside. You can now see a clear connection between light and shade in the areas where they worked.

1月21日（火）は無鄰菴在釜の日です。
先週の在釜風景から。
寒い日にも関わらず、無鄰菴在釜は大勢のお客様で大変賑やかでした。
「お庭を眺めながら、お着物でされるお点前を拝見でき、とても贅沢ですね」とおっしゃってくださったり、中国からお越しのあるお客様には「中国では私は甘い抹茶しか飲んだことがなく、抹茶本来の味が美味しい」と喜んでいただきました。他にも熱心に茶道具をご覧になる方もいらっしゃいました。様々なお客様と様々なお話が飛び交う和気あいあいとした在釜でした。
