11月24日（土）に金剛流能楽師の宇髙竜成（たつしげ）さま、徳成（とくしげ）さまによるお能講座を開催致しました。今回は鬘物（かずらもの）と呼ばれ、美しい女性や高貴な男性、草木の精が登場し、幽玄の美の言葉が最もふさわしいジャンルでありました。次回は2019年1月19日（土）に開催いたします。

無鄰菴ティースクール Vol.6 「-お茶で心を和ませる人になりましょう- スタイルを身につける1】」／Murinan Tea School Session 6 with Tyas

11月18日の第6回目のティースクール講座では、サイレントテイスティングを行い、自宅でどのような茶器を使用しているか参加者にお伺いした後、お茶の器について学びました。ティアス先生から工夫を凝らせばお茶の楽しみ方が広がるということ、茶種によって適した器の選び方などのヒントをいただきながら、４つのポイントを詳しく教えていただきました。

We held our sixth tea school seminar on November 18. First, we held a silent tasting and then we learned about tea utensils. Tyas gave us hints about how tea can be more fun with a little added ingenuity and how to pick the right tea utensils for each kind of tea. He also taught us four especially important points to remember when preparing tea.

Our next lesson will be held on December 23 (Sun.) Let’s learn together about how to choose tea to suit each occasion!

庭師と学ぶ　フォスタリング・スタディーズ　第2シリーズ 　vol.4 「晩秋」

11月10日(土)、今回は松の葉むしりと落ち葉集め、コケの修繕を行いました。洋館内でグループに分かれ、デモンストレーションで葉むしりの方法を学んだあとは、いざ庭園内の松葉へ！手作業のため、間近の枝々からマツ独特の香りに癒されました。アカマツの幹を研ぐ松掃きのダイナミックな作業では大きな歓声もございました。落ち葉集めでは、苔の上にある葉を除去し、またスギゴケ内に入り込んだハイゴケの引き抜き作業、土壌があらわになった部分をオキナゴケを使用しての修繕作業を皆さんで行いました。ご参加の方から「梯子の上に登って木の上からとても綺麗な景色を見れて良い経験になりました。」「松の葉やコケをむしるのはとても気持ちが良かったです。自分の庭でも参考にしたいです。」とのお声等をいただきました。

シイの木剪定を行いました。/ Pruning the chinquapin trees

お庭から比叡山が望める視点場から、風景に溶け込むシイの木の剪定を行いました。来園の皆さまも作業風景を、足を止めて眺めておられました。時折ご質問で「茶室東側の苔上で見つかる黒色の実」は、この大樹のドングリでございます。

We pruned the chinquapin trees so that they would blend into the scenery seen from the viewpoint looking out at Mt. Hiei from the garden. Visitors stopped to watch the gardening being performed. The black nuts found atop the moss on the east side of the tea room, which we sometimes receive questions about, are acorns from a large tree.

非公開文化財特別公開は11月11日(日)で終了致しました/ Exhibition of Cultural Property Items was closed

11月1日の朝7:30から開催の「非公開文化財特別公開」は11日（日）17:00をもちまして終了いたしました。たくさんのご来場、まことにありがとうございました。本日より、通常の公開となり、庭園も紅葉が鮮やかに色付いております。お近くを立ち寄られる際は是非ご覧ください。

The exhibition closed yesterday at 5:00 PM. Thank you for coming to Murin-an. From today, we are opening as usual. And the garden is the best time to see the autumn leaves.

The Teikanen Conservation Society is the owner of Teikanen, a garden that is one of Japan’s nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty. Members of their organization visited Murin-an to study how we are utilizing the garden. Teikanen was constructed in the Edo period and is the oldest garden to be designated a national Place of Scenic Beauty in Niigata prefecture. Its area covers a whole three hectares! This dynamic garden in the mountains is an extraordinary place with an atmosphere that is very different from the gardens in Kyoto. （Seasonal Tea Sweets Day）Rittō 立冬 (Winter Begins)
Spend a truly Japanese afternoon with appropriately seasonal sweets in a room decorated with seasonal flowers. At Murin-an, you can savor the season’s blessings with all your senses. Tomorrow’s theme is the Winter Begins” (Rittō 立冬) season, which means beginning winter in Japan’s 24-season calendar.

Enjoy sitting next to our new flower arrangement in the main house while exploring the delicate taste of wagashi (Japanese sweets) balanced by the pleasantly bitter taste of matcha tea, and also enjoying the soothing view of the garden.
First-come-first-served, there is only a limited availability of tea sweets, which are exclusively created for Murin-an garden.
