11月6日（水）に母屋2階で開催されたきもの教室では、初めての方や、着物を久しぶりに着用する方などで賑わいました。講師の指導と姿鏡を確認しながら帯の位置などを確かめて着付けを行っている様子です。

「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson

11月6日（水）の午後、バンについて解説致しました。隣を流れている琵琶湖疎水にはバンとオオバンがやってくることもあり、その違いをお伝えをしながら生態のお話もさせていただきました。昔は食用としても捕獲されていた野鳥でもあり、また野鳥の弁足（水かき）が水鳥によって様々であることをイラストを描きながら解説も致しました。ご参加の方から「楽しく興味深く聞かせて頂きました。これからはもっと注意深く観察していきたいと思います。」などのコメントをいただきました。

毎週水曜日に開催している「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」は14:00~14:30の30分、母屋1階の8畳の間で行っています。1種を取り上げてその野鳥の解説や生態の面白さなどを、お庭を眺めつつ、やってきた野鳥の解説も行いながらお話をしています。

Murin-an Wild Bird Mini-lecture
On the afternoon of November 6, we held a mini-lecture on the common moorhen. Both common moorhens and common coots visit the Lake Biwa Canal flowing next to Murin-an. We discussed the difference between these two birds and their ecologies. We also explained how the common moorhen was once caught for food and used illustrations to show participants the different varieties of webbed feet that exist among water fowl.

季節の庭を楽しむ無鄰菴茶会「開炉茶会」

茶家では11月から炉を使用する季節となります。11月4日(月）に開催されたお茶会では、庭園内の色づき始めのモミジの紹介、お茶室内では炉についてのお話などをしながらお菓子とお抹茶をご堪能くださいました。ご参加の方から「別世界を体験させていただきました。茶道を身近に感じることができました。」「お庭の説明や草花の説明など、知っていたこと知らなかったことなど、とても楽しく拝聴させていただきました。お茶・お菓子も美味しかったです。」などのコメントをいただきました。

A Murin-an Tea Ceremony to Enjoy the Garden’s Seasons
(An Open-hearth Tea Ceremony)

For tea houses, November is the season to use a hearth. At this tea ceremony held on November 4 (Mon.), our guests thoroughly enjoyed seeing the garden’s maples changing color and, inside the tearoom, hearing a discussion of the hearth as they ate Japanese sweets and drank matcha tea.

生徒開炉茶会

11月3日（日）、お茶室にて無鄰菴茶道教室にお越しいただいている生徒さんとそのお知り合いの方を対象に、開炉茶会を開催いたしました。亭主と客人に分かれ、講師の指導のもと、一連の流れを体験しながらのお茶会となりました。待合いとして使用される相伴席ではしつらえと共にお香を楽しんでいただきました。生徒さんから「お茶会のいろいろな役目を学べて勉強になりました」「茶会の準備から先生にご指導いただき大変有意義なお茶会でした」とのコメントをいただきました。

A Student Tea Ceremony Using an Open Hearth
On November 3 (Sun.), we held an open-hearth tea ceremony with students from our tea school and some of their friends. We split into hosts and guests and then held a tea ceremony while following a series of steps under our teacher’s instruction. Our participants enjoyed the decorations and incense arranged in the seat for accompanying guests (shobanseki) used as a waiting room (machiai).

週末庭園巡り

11月3日(日）の午後、モミジがほんのりと色付いたお庭で庭園巡りを開催いたしました。お庭の魅力や施主と作庭家の関係などのお話も解説いたしました。メモを取りながらとても熱心にお庭を堪能していただき「しかけだけではなく、文化財やお茶室、庭師の仕事など様々なお話が聞けたことで、無鄰菴を様々な視点から見られて楽しかったです！」とのお声もいただきました。

Weekend Garden Tours
On the afternoon of November 3, we gave a garden tour around a garden whose maple leaves were starting to turn a light red. We explained the allure of this garden and its connection to both its original owner and the gardener who created it. Our guest for this tour listened intently as she jotted down notes.

無鄰菴茶道教室

11月1日(金)、2日(土)に無鄰菴茶道教室を開催いたしました。体験でお越しの方もおられ、袱紗捌きやお点前のお稽古をして頂きました。
割稽古では講師から直接個人の指導を、休憩中では茶道についての説明などで楽しいお時間を皆さまに過ごしていただきました。

Murin-an Tea School
On November 1 (Fri.) and 2 (Sat.), we held tea ceremony classes at Murin-an. We also had some students come for a trial lesson where they learned about how to fold the silk cloth (fukusa) and how to participate in a tea ceremony.

Our instructor gave students direct personal instruction during a step-by-step lesson and explained about the philosophy of the Way of Tea during break time.
An enjoyable time was had by all.

庭師と学ぶ フォスタリング・スタディーズ Ⅲ 第4回 「秋」モミジ、シダ、コケ

10月26日（土）の午後、庭師の指導のもと、無鄰菴庭園でのお手入れの講座を開催いたしました。モミジの剪定では、小枝の出にくい切り方などをお伝えいただき、この回ではシダ類やコケ類のお手入れ方法などを教わりながら作業をしていただきました。
ご参加の方から「もみじ全体を見ながら透かしも考えて剪定する事や、切り口をきれいにする事など勉強になりました」「庭師の方々に直接色々とお尋ねでき、丁寧に教えていただき、さらに庭園植物に興味が増しました」といったコメントを頂きました。

「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson

10月30日（水）の午後、ハヤブサについて解説致しました。最近のハヤブサの生態事情や、世界最速の急降下をする事、またハンティングの仕方などについてお伝えさせていただきました。名前に馴染み深い野鳥のため、ご参加いただいた方からは講座中にもたくさん質問があり、質疑応答に皆さま興味深くお聞きくださいました。
ご参加の方から「親しみやすい先生で、とても楽しい時間でした。周囲の方に自慢（宣伝）したいです」「他の鳥の講座も是非聞きたくなりました」といったお声をいただきました。

Murin-an Wild Bird Mini-lecture
On October 30 (Wed.), we held a mini-lecture on the Peregrine Falcon. We discussed their recent ecological conditions, how they can make the most rapid descents of any bird in the world, and their hunting methods. As this is a familiar wild bird in Japan, we received many questions during the lecture. Our participants listened with great interest to the question and answer exchange that ensued.

秋の早朝特別公開　秋の縁側・煎茶・庭

10月25日(金）から27日(日）の3日間、あたたかい煎茶とお干菓子を召しあがって朝のお庭を楽しんで頂きました。

初日は雨の無鄰菴庭園、翌日は曇りの庭園、最終日は晴れの庭園と様々な景色となりました。

今回は時代祭りの日程に合わせての開催で、時代祭りについての解説も含めてガイドをさせて頂きました。

週末庭園巡り

10月27日(日）の午後、週末庭園を開催いたしました。園内のリンドウやホトトギスなどを愛でていただきながらお庭の解説を楽しんでいただきました。庭園内の植物にご興味をお持ちで、植物の花々をご覧になりつつ、苔の説明時には実際に触れていただき、楽しいお時間を過ごして頂きました。

Weekend Garden Tours
On the afternoon of October 27 (Sun.), we held weekend garden tours at Murin-an. In the garden, we had our guests enjoy the Japanese gentians and Japanese toad lilies as we explained the garden to them. They were very interested in the garden’s plants and enjoyed looking at each plant’s flowers as well as actually touching the moss.
