Cultural Property Lecture Series: Technical Course - Vol. 4 "Sukiya Architecture"

The essence of Japanese architecture can be found in the Sukiya style of residential structures in Japan.The Sukiya style was developed from the Tea Ceremony culture and other traditional Japanese arts.
This is a lecture series of the basic knowledge of the preservation and repairs of modern Japanese architecture. This session focuses on the Sukiya style and introduces “a Kyoto-style carpentry on the roof structure.” A legendary carpenter who has been engaging in restoration works of National Treasures and other historically important properties will talk about his arts using the roofs of Murin-an buildings as study materials.
