Japanese Noh theater used to be played on stages in the gardens of shrines and temples and hence represented a pillar of the Japanese garden culture. In these series, you will learn in depth about Japanese Noh culture, first-hand from the Noh performers known as Udaka Brothers, who are active at the forefront of the current Noh scene. This series covers the basic elements of Noh by introducing seasonal themes and their interpretation.
Session vol. 5 focusses on the music accompanying a Noh play and how the musicians complete the performance. You will learn about the Noh music player’s artistry and will get to see and hear the original instruments.
