季節のしつらえと限定茶菓子

無鄰菴では、四季折々の「しつらえ」でお客様をお迎えさせていただいております。明日は二十四節気の「立冬（りっとう）」にちなんだ季節のしつらえを母屋にてお楽しみいただけます。また「立冬」に合わせたこの日限りのお茶菓子（限定数）もご用意し、皆様のお越しをお待ちしております。当日は、練り切り柿のお茶菓子をご用意致します。尚、こちらの茶菓子席は無くなり次第終了です。ご了承下さいませ。

(Seasonal Tea Sweets Day） Rittou 立冬 (Winter Begins)
Spend a truly Japanese afternoon with appropriately seasonal sweets in a room decorated with seasonal things. At Murin-an, you can savor the season’s blessings with all your senses. Tomorrow’s theme is “Rittou” (立冬), Winter Begins in Japan’s 24-season calendar.
Enjoy sitting next to our new flower arrangement in the main house while exploring the delicate taste of wagashi (Japanese sweets) balanced by the pleasantly bitter taste of matcha tea, and also enjoying the soothing view of the garden.
First-come-first-served, there is only a limited availability of tea sweets, which are exclusively created for Murin-an garden.

受付前の中低木剪定

庭園内のサザンカは既に開花を迎えましたが、受付前のものはまだ小さなつぼみの状態でございます。丸い玉の様に見えているのは昨年咲いたサザンカがつけた実でございます。
葉枝に栄養が取られないよう、また梳かした場所から日差しが入るように三又など複数に枝が分れた部分を、形を整えながら剪定を行っている様子です。

Pruning the Shrubs in Front of the Reception Window
The sasanqua camellias in Murin-an’s garden have already flowered, but there are still small buds on the ones in front of the reception window. What looks like round beads are the fruits that grew on the sasanqua camellias last year.
Here are some pictures of our gardener pruning areas where multiple branches have grown while also shaping so that the leaves and branches do not take away the shrub’s nourishment and so that sunlight can enter through thinned areas.

庭師と学ぶ フォスタリング・スタディーズ Ⅲ 第4回 「秋」モミジ、シダ、コケ

10月26日（土）の午後、庭師の指導のもと、無鄰菴庭園でのお手入れの講座を開催いたしました。モミジの剪定では、小枝の出にくい切り方などをお伝えいただき、この回ではシダ類やコケ類のお手入れ方法などを教わりながら作業をしていただきました。
ご参加の方から「もみじ全体を見ながら透かしも考えて剪定する事や、切り口をきれいにする事など勉強になりました」「庭師の方々に直接色々とお尋ねでき、丁寧に教えていただき、さらに庭園植物に興味が増しました」といったコメントを頂きました。

「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson

10月30日（水）の午後、ハヤブサについて解説致しました。最近のハヤブサの生態事情や、世界最速の急降下をする事、またハンティングの仕方などについてお伝えさせていただきました。名前に馴染み深い野鳥のため、ご参加いただいた方からは講座中にもたくさん質問があり、質疑応答に皆さま興味深くお聞きくださいました。
ご参加の方から「親しみやすい先生で、とても楽しい時間でした。周囲の方に自慢（宣伝）したいです」「他の鳥の講座も是非聞きたくなりました」といったお声をいただきました。
毎週水曜日に開催している「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」は14:00~14:30の30分、母屋1階の8畳の間で行っています。1種を取り上げてその野鳥の解説や生態の面白さなどを、お庭を眺めつつ、やってきた野鳥の解説も行いながらお話をしています。

Murin-an Wild Bird Mini-lecture
On October 30 (Wed.), we held a mini-lecture on the Peregrine Falcon. We discussed their recent ecological conditions, how they can make the most rapid descents of any bird in the world, and their hunting methods. As this is a familiar wild bird in Japan, we received many questions during the lecture. Our participants listened with great interest to the question and answer exchange that ensued.

秋の早朝特別公開　秋の縁側・煎茶・庭

10月25日(金）から27日(日）の3日間、あたたかい煎茶とお干菓子を召しあがって朝のお庭を楽しんで頂きました。

初日は雨の無鄰菴庭園、翌日は曇りの庭園、最終日は晴れの庭園と様々な景色となりました。

今回は時代祭りの日程に合わせての開催で、時代祭りについての解説も含めてガイドをさせて頂きました。

センリョウの実が色付きました。

三段の滝前にある沢飛び石から、滝の流れを背景にセンリョウが見頃を迎えています。この場所には2種類が生育し、黄色と赤色の果実を愛でることができます。
キミノセンリョウの実はセンリョウほど実りませんが、その美しさは魅力的です。瀬落ちや滝音と共にお楽しみください。

The fruits on the Chloranthuses have changed color.
Now’s the time to see the Chloranthuses that extend from the water-crossing stones in front of Murin-an’s three-stage waterfall to the waterfall stream. There are two Chloranthus species that grow in this area, allowing us to enjoy their fruits in red and yellow.
Yellow fruit-bearing Chloranthuses do not bear as much fruit as those that bear red fruit, but their beauty is enchanting. Enjoy them together with Murin-an’s cascades and the sound of its waterfall.

リンドウが見頃を迎えています。

モミジ林にある水面へと続く園路の東側のリンドウが今年も青色の花を開いてくれました。昨年に比べると少し早めの開花となり、10月26日に一番咲きを確認いたしました。水面に映るモミジとともに、その姿をお楽しみください。

Now’s the time to see Murin-an’s Japanese Gentians.
Once again this year, there are blue flowers blooming on the Japanese Gentians to the east of the garden path extending from the maple tree grove to the water’s surface. They bloomed a little earlier than last year; we confirmed the first flowering on October 26. Please enjoy looking at them together with the reflection of the maple trees on the water.

庭園を知る日

10月28日（月）京都造形芸術大学 環境デザイン学科教授の尼崎博正先生と京都造園建設業協会 会長 野間 秀行先生の引率のもと、生徒の方々が実習のため、無鄰菴に来訪下さいました。
実習のスケジュールは盛沢山！流れにある落ち葉の除去や護岸下草のそうじなど。午後は母屋2階で講義後、芝地や苔手入れなどがございました。庭師の指導を受けながら水辺植物の扱い方やクマザサなどの剪定を行い、夕方に全ての実習が終了となりました。連日降っていた雨により、苔は青々としていますが、その反面、土壌が柔らかく、苔の手入れにとても気を遣い作業をされていました。
来園者からは、「いつもと違うお庭の風景があり、また、お庭の知識を勉強される方々が育って活躍されていくことは嬉しい限りです」とのお声をいただきました。

Learn About Gardens Day
On October 28 (Sun.), we held an event for Garden Day where Prof. Hiromasa Amasaki of Kyoto University of Art and Design and Hideyuki Noma, chairman of the Kyoto Landscape and Construction Cooperative, led students on a training session at Murin-an.
The schedule for this training session was quite full! Students cleaned fallen leaves out of the stream and cleaned undergrowth from the shore bank protection. In the afternoon, after a lecture held on the second floor of the main house, they tended to the grass lawn and moss area. Under our gardeners’ instructions, they learned how to treat aquatic plants and pruned the Kuma bamboo grass. All training came to a conclusion by the evening. Although the moss shone with a lush green color thanks to the rain which fell for several days prior to training day, as a result the soil was very soft and our trainees exercised great care when working on the moss.

芝生の手入れ

太陽の日差しを受けて、芝生のランナーが園路に張り出すようになりました。皆さまが歩く場所、芝生の生育しているエリアを整備するために、園路内に入り込んだ芝を調整しています。時折立ち上がっては全体を見通して飛び出しがないか確認しながら行っていきました。
芝生内にある他のイネ科植物や、気温が低くなるとロゼットになって地面に葉を広げるものもあり、鎌も使いながら手作業で時間をかけて取り除いていきました。

Tending to Murin-an’s Lawn
Having gotten their light from the sun, the grass runners on Murin-an’s lawn are now jutting into the garden path. To maintain the areas where our visitors walk and where the lawn grows, we adjusted the grass that has wound up growing inside the garden path. We stood up occasionally to overlook the whole area and make sure there wasn’t any place where the lawn stuck out.
There are also other grass species on the lawn that turn a rosette color when the temperature drops lower and spread over the ground, so we devoted time to removing these by hand and with a scythe.

週末庭園巡り

10月27日(日）の午後、週末庭園を開催いたしました。園内のリンドウやホトトギスなどを愛でていただきながらお庭の解説を楽しんでいただきました。庭園内の植物にご興味をお持ちで、植物の花々をご覧になりつつ、苔の説明時には実際に触れていただき、楽しいお時間を過ごして頂きました。

Weekend Garden Tours
On the afternoon of October 27 (Sun.), we held weekend garden tours at Murin-an. In the garden, we had our guests enjoy the Japanese gentians and Japanese toad lilies as we explained the garden to them. They were very interested in the garden’s plants and enjoyed looking at each plant’s flowers as well as actually touching the moss.
