無鄰菴では、四季折々の「しつらえ」でお客様をお迎えさせていただいております。明日は二十四節気の「小雪（しょうせつ）」にちなんだ季節のしつらえを母屋にてお楽しみいただけます。また「小雪」に合わせたこの日限りのお茶菓子（限定数）もご用意し、皆様のお越しをお待ちしております。当日は、きんとん紅葉のお茶菓子をご用意致します。尚、こちらの茶菓子席は無くなり次第終了です。ご了承下さいませ。

(Seasonal Tea Sweets Day） Shousetsu 小雪 (Snows a bit)
Spend a truly Japanese afternoon with appropriately seasonal sweets in a room decorated with seasonal things. At Murin-an, you can savor the season’s blessings with all your senses. Tomorrow’s theme is “Shousetsu” (小雪), Snows a bit in Japan’s 24-season calendar.
Enjoy sitting next to our new arrangement in the main house while exploring the delicate taste of wagashi (Japanese sweets) balanced by the pleasantly bitter taste of matcha tea, and also enjoying the soothing view of the garden.
First-come-first-served, there is only a limited availability of tea sweets, which are exclusively created for Murin-an garden.

無鄰菴きもの教室-生活の中に文化を！-

11月13日(水）に11月の第2回目のきもの教室を開催いたしました。モミジもほぼ半分が赤みを帯び、ゆったりとした中でのお教室となりました。
皆さまの着付けが終了した後、今回は模様についてのお話もございました。正倉院文様、有職文様、そして動植物文様など、仕様や表現目的に合わせて用途が異なっていることを学んでいただきました。

Murin-an Kimono School
On November 13 (Wed.), we held our second kimono wearing class for November. Murin-an’s maple trees have now turned half-red, making for a lesson with a very relaxed atmosphere.
After everyone finished putting on their kimonos, we discussed the kimonos’ different patterns. Students learned that there are the Shosoin pattern, the Yushoku pattern, and the animal and plant pattern, and that each one differs according to how it is used.

「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson

11月13日(水）午後、モミジも赤く色づいたお庭を眺めながら、フクロウについて解説を致しました。フクロウとミミズクの違い、フクロウとカラスの物語を交えつつ、生態も併せて解説いたしました。中でも皆さまの印象に残ったのは地鳴きの声が、まるで獣の様に「ギャアー」と聴こえることです。普段とは違う録音の声に驚嘆されていました。他にも、ジプリ映画のトトロのモデルとなったミミズクのお話も交えながら楽しく過ごして頂きました。

毎週水曜日に開催している「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」は14:00~14:30の30分、母屋1階の8畳の間で行っています。1種を取り上げてその野鳥の解説や生態の面白さなどを、お庭を眺めつつ、やってきた野鳥の解説も行いながらお話をしています。

Murin-an Wild Bird Mini-lecture
On the afternoon of November 13, we held a mini-lecture on the owl as we gazed out at the garden and its maple trees that are now turning red. We explained the differences between the owl and the horned owl and the owl’s ecology while also adding some stories about owls and crows. The owl’s cry, which sounds just like the roar of a beast made an especially deep impression on our participants.

クマザサの手入れ

モミジ林の広い流れに面した場所にクマザサが生育しています。幅広い葉の下には苔が育ち、適量の日光が射し込むように不要となったササ葉を取り除く作業をしています。この付近では、よく水面を飛び跳ねている小魚の姿もございます。

Tending to the Kuma Bamboo Grass
Kuma bamboo grass grows in the area facing the broad stream in Murin-an’s maple tree grove. Moss grows underneath those wide-spanning leaves. We are removing bamboo grass that is no longer necessary so that the right amount of light enters. Nearby, you can also see the little fish leaping from the water’s surface.

週末庭園巡り

11月9日（土）と10日(日）は連日秋晴れの天候の中での開催となりました。夏の間青々していた芝地は褐色に変化しています。モミジの紅葉がお庭を彩る中、無鄰菴庭園の文化財指定理由などをお伝えし、庭園の見どころをご紹介させていただきました。
ご参加の方から「詳しく説明していただきありがとうございました。次回庭園に行ったら、見方が変わると思います。」などのコメントをいただきました。

Weekend Garden Guides
On the afternoons of November 9 and 10 (Sat. and Sun.), we held tea ceremony classes amid several days of brilliantly clear weather. The lush green lawn of summer has now changed to brown. In a garden colored by the autumn leaves of maple trees, we explained the reasons why Murin-an was designated a cultural property and introduced our guests to its highlights.

松葉むしり

先週に行ったクロマツの手入れの終了後、別の日に御賜稚松ノ記のクロマツを手掛けました。葉むしりの前後では、その容姿が顕著に出ています。園内にはまだ数本のマツが生育しているので今後も1本ずつ手入れをしていきます。

Plucking Pine Needles at Murin-an
After completing work on one black pine last week, we set to work on another black pine nearby Murin-an’s stone monument. After a pine tree’s needles have been plucked, its figure stands out all the more prominently. The garden still has several pine trees left, so we’ll be tending to them one by one.

無鄰菴在釜／Tuesdays: Japanese Tea

連続講座「日本庭園通史」④庭園見学　金地院、南禅寺方丈庭園「小堀遠州とその時代」

11月9日（土）の午後、南禅寺さんの方丈庭園、金地院さんの庭園を巡りながら各庭園の歴史的視点と考察をお伝えいただきました。南禅寺三門前からスタートし、最後は無鄰菴母屋2階にてまとめのお話。ご参加いただいた方から「年代によってどの部分がどういう風に変わったか、貴重なお話でした」「景観を育まれている庭師の観点からお庭を学べて非常に有意義な時間でした」などのコメントをいただきました。

Seminar Series “The History of Japanese Gardens”
On the afternoon of November 9 (Sat.), Ueyakato Landscape led a tour of the
garden’s at Nanzen-ji Temple’s abbot hall and at it’s sub-temple Konchi-in while also sharing some historical perspectives and reflections on them. The tour began in front of Nanzen-ji Temple’s main gate and came to a conclusion on the second floor of Murin-an’s main house.

無鄰菴茶道教室

11月8日（金）、9日（土）に母屋2階、およびお茶室で無鄰菴茶道教室を開催致しました。開炉が開始となり、初めてのお稽古日の様子でございます。この日は畳を移動する際の歩く歩幅、茶杓の扱いや姿勢などの細やかな指導をお稽古の中で行いました。

Murin-an Tea School
On November 8 and 9 (Fri. & Sat.), we held tea ceremony classes on the second floor of Murin-an’s main house and inside the tearoom. These are pictures of our first lessons this year where we opened the hearth. At these lessons, we learned detailed instructions about the proper space between steps when moving across the tatami mats, how to treat the tea scoop, and how to maintain the correct posture.

11月6日（水）に母屋2階で開催されたきもの教室では、初めての方や、着物を久しぶりに着用する方などで賑わいました。講師の指導と姿鏡を確認しながら帯の位置などを確かめて着付けを行っている様子です。
