「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson
10月17日（水）の午後、8畳間にて無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座「イカル」を開催いたしました。無鄰菴庭園で見られる時間帯や季節、また無鄰菴の花と野鳥の関係などをお伝えさせていただく中で、この嘴で挟まれると大変痛いお話やその他の体験談も含め、話題の尽きない回になりました。次回は10月24日（水）14:00~14:30に、「ジョウビタキ」についてお話いたします。

On October 17 (Wed.), we held a mini-lecture on the Japanese Grosbeak in the 8-tatami mat space. This lesson was full of topics for discussion, from the times and seasons in which this bird can be seen at Murin-an to how painful it is to be pecked by one! Our next lesson will be on October 24 (Wed.) 2:00 PM-2:30 PM and will cover the Daurian redstart.

無鄰菴茶会 第3回『火』／Murin-an Tea Ceremony – Vol. 3 Fire
10月14日、裏千家宗名・千葉宗幸／若手庭師による無鄰菴茶会を開催致しました。スクリーンを通して、燈籠のお話の後、茶室内の釜の湯の音がする空間で、末富さまにお作りいただいた蒸し菓子「八重葎（やえむぐら）」、打ち物「菊」、すはま「松葉」とともにお茶会をお楽しみ頂きました。「お点前が美しくて気持ちがよかった。ご亭主のお話が楽しかった。」「お庭の手入れのお話が興味深かったです。」と参加者からお声をいただきました。次回は11月11日に開催いたします。

Murin-an Tea Ceremony – Vol. 3 Fire
On October 14, we held a Murin-an tea ceremony with Urasenke tea master Soko Chiba and one of our young gardeners. As we listened to the sound of the water being heated in the kettle, we enjoyed steamed cakes and two varieties of sweets from Suetomi. Our next tea ceremony will be held on November 11.

無鄰菴茶道教室／ Saturday’s tea ceremony classroom
10月13日（土）茶道教室を開催いたしました。
今回は秋風を感じながらのお稽古でした。午後は袱紗折りの習得を詳しくお伝え頂きました。ご参加の方から「カラフルな色で、手品をするのかと思いました」とのお声で、皆さまの緊張の空気が一気に和んだ雰囲気のなかでのお稽古となりました。

Murin-an Tea School We held a tea ceremony class on October 13 (Sat.). This tea ceremony was held amid a refreshing autumn breeze. In the afternoon, we explained about the fukasa cloths used to clean the tea utensils, a a colorful and fun element of the class that helped everyone relax. The Murin-an tea ceremony is held every Saturday. Come around to the garden and savor a cup of freshly whisked green tea.

「土曜日の苔庭づくり」
10 月13日(土)午後、苔庭づくりイベントを開催いたしました。秋晴れの中、お庭を巡りながら数種類の苔の特徴をお伝えさせて頂いた後は、洋館でメインの苔庭づくりをスタート！
お庭の苔の案内中、苔の緑に感動されていたご様子でした。苔庭づくりでは、デザイン的に試行しながら苔の配置や樹木の置く位置、そして視点場のポイントも考慮して、お庭づくりをとても楽しんでくださいました。

On October 13 (Sat.), we held a moss garden making event. After touring the garden under a clear autumn sky to explain the characteristics of its many varieties of moss, we headed to the Western-style building to start making our moss gardens!
Everyone was impressed with the green of the moss in the garden and enjoyed experimenting with different designs and viewpoints to create gardens of their own.

10月10日（水）の午後、8畳間にて無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座「ツグミ」を開催いたしました。昼下がりは雨に見舞われ、お庭は静寂に包まれていましたが、講座の部屋では賑やかな笑い声が。ツグミの生態や地面生活のあれこれ、無鄰菴のお庭との関係などをお伝えさせて頂きました。次回は10月17日（水）14:00~14:30に、「イカル」についてお話いたします。

On October 10 (Wed.), we held a mini-lecture on the Dusky Thrush. We discussed the Dusky Thrush’s ecology, how it forages on the ground, and its relation to Murin-an. Our next lesson will be on October 17 (Wed.) 2:00 PM-2:30 PM and will cover the Japanese Grosbeak.

「山縣有朋が巡ったルートで回る往時の無鄰菴」／Yamagata’s walking route in Murinan
10月7日（日）、「山縣有朋が巡ったルートで回る往時の無鄰菴」を開催いたしました。前半は後世に残すお庭のお話や、庭園の概要をお話し、後半、お庭を一通り回りながら解説をさせていただいた後は、続江湖快心録の資料に記された文献を元に、山縣有朋の巡ったルートを歩いて当時の様子などをお伝えさせていただきました。参加者の方からは「続江湖快心録に沿って歩くという貴重な体験ができてありがたかったです。前半のレクチャーも大変勉強になりました。毎回新しい発見があり、楽しいです。」のお声を頂きました。

On October 7 (Sun.), we held a walking tour along the route taken by Yamagata Aritomo, Murin-an’s original owner. First we provided an overview of the garden and told stories about it that have been recorded for posterity. Then we followed Yamagata’s regular route around the garden and used historical documents to explain what it looked like at that time.

「京都在住の海外アーティスト作品展示とギャラリートーク/Exhibition of Overseas Artists & Gallery Talk」
10月7日（日）の午後、作家であるアンヌ・ロール・サクリストさんのギャラリートークが開催されました。陶芸家の野嶋信夫さんを迎え、作品のプロセスについてお話くださいました。言語の障壁はあっても、お互いの動きや表現でコミュニケーションをとり、造りたいものや、作品の表現したいことをサポートまたは伝授されたお話など、盛りだくさんな内容でした。お越しになられた方々は、パンフレットを片手に真剣なまなざしで聞いておられました。「人間の手で作りだされる自然の表現」の展示は本日で終了となります。お立ち寄りの際ご覧いただいた皆さま、ありがとうございました。

On the afternoon of October 7 (Sun.), we held a gallery talk with Anne Laure Sacriste. We also invited ceramics artist Nobuo Nojima, whose atelier Sacriste trained at, to talk together about the creative process. A lively conversation ensued about topics such as overcoming language barriers by communicating through movement and providing support for what a fellow artist is trying to express. This exhibition ends today 6:00PM. Thank you for coming everyone.

「セカイから見た日本を知る 文学作品の翻訳を通して『俳句』/ World Literature and Japan」
10月6日（土）、母屋一階の8畳間にて俳句サロン的な雰囲気を味わいながら英語俳句についてお伝え頂きました。俳句をHAIKUにする方法や、季語に関する言葉を英語にして、トピックを選んでそれらの文章の英文説明をおこないました。参加された方から、「庭は感じることはもちろん、ボーッとするのにも良いけれど、考えたり思ったりするのにも良く、学ぶ場に風景があるのは素晴らしい」とのお声をいただきました。

On October 6 (Sat.), we held a lecture on English language haiku poetry amid a salon-like atmosphere in the 8-tatami mat room on the first floor of the main building. Our participants told us they learned to appreciate the garden not only as a place to lose oneself, but also to think and learn.

「土曜日の苔庭づくり」
10 月6日(土)午後、苔庭つくりイベントを開催いたしました。お庭の苔の案内中、いくつもの種類の苔を見て触って、「これが今の説明の苔ですね？こちらはまた違う種類のものですね？」とガイドとお話をされていました。その後、洋館にてミニチュア苔つくりを楽しんでいただきました。お庭づくりでは、「御賜稚松乃記の石の周りの苔をどれにしようか？とても楽しく、完成したものをこのまま持って帰りたい感じです。」と、とても楽しんでくださいました。

On the afternoon of October 6 (Sat.), we held a moss garden making event. As they toured the moss garden, participants eagerly asked our guide about the different varieties of moss they were looking at and touching. They then enjoyed making their own moss gardens in the Western-style building, discussing what sort of moss to use, and commenting how nice it would be to take their finished gardens home with them.

無鄰菴茶道教室／ Saturday’s tea ceremony classroom
10月6日（土）雨のしたたる中、茶道教室を開催いたしました。今回は初心に戻ってのお稽古を兼ねてと細かなしぐさまでのご指導をいただきました。参加された方から、「身についている動作でも、角度や振る舞いの動きを改めて直す良い機会の時間でした」とのお声を頂きました。初めての方も、お庭を散策に来られた方も、毎週土曜日、お気軽に体験出来ます。無鄰菴お立ち寄りの際の＋αを記念にどうぞ。

On October 6 (Sat.), we held a tea ceremony lesson as the rain dripped down all around us. This lesson was a back to basics class featuring detailed instruction in the movements and gestures of the tea ceremony. One participant told us it was a good opportunity for her to brush up on tea ceremony gestures she already knew.
The Murin-an tea ceremony is held every Saturday. Come around to the garden and savor a cup of freshly whisked green tea.
