お庭スタッフのまなざし／The Gardener’s View

流れの掃除を行いました。縁や瀬落ち部分、そしてその隙間には落葉や小枝などが蓄積しやすい場所でございます。細かな部分は手や手箒を使用して丁寧に取り除いていきました。手入れ後は、軽やかな和みあるせせらぎの水音が一層軽やかに聴こえる様になりました。

It’s easy for fallen leaves and twigs to accumulate in the garden’s greenery, cascades and their crevices. We cleaned tough to reach areas using a short-handled broom. Once it had been cleaned, the light-hearted and soothing sound of the stream’s water could be heard all the more clearly.

無鄰菴茶会 第3回『火』／Murin-an Tea Ceremony – Vol. 3 Fire

10月14日、裏千家宗名・千葉宗幸／若手庭師による無鄰菴茶会を開催致しました。スクリーンを通して、燈籠のお話の後、茶室内の釜の湯の音がする空間で、末富さまにお作りいただいた蒸し菓子「八重葎（やえむぐら）」、打ち物「菊」、すはま「松葉」とともにお茶会をお楽しみ頂きました。「お点前が美しくて気持ちがよかった。ご亭主のお話が楽しかった。」「お庭の手入れのお話が興味深かったです。」と参加者からお声をいただきました。次回は11月11日に開催いたします。

Murin-an Tea Ceremony – Vol. 3 Fire
On October 14, we held a Murin-an tea ceremony with Urasenke tea master Soko Chiba and one of our young gardeners. As we listened to the sound of the water being heated in the kettle, we enjoyed steamed cakes and two varieties of sweets from Suetomi. Our next tea ceremony will be held on November 11.

無鄰菴茶道教室／ Saturday’s tea ceremony classroom

10月13日（土）茶道教室を開催いたしました。
今回は秋風を感じながらのお稽古でした。午後は袱紗折りの習得を詳しくお伝え頂きました。ご参加の方から「カラフルな色で、手品をするのかと思いました」とのお声で、皆さまの緊張の空気が一気に和んだ雰囲気のなかでのお稽古となりました。

Murin-an Tea School We held a tea ceremony class on October 13 (Sat.). This tea ceremony was held amid a refreshing autumn breeze. In the afternoon, we explained about the fukasa cloths used to clean the tea utensils, a a colorful and fun element of the class that helped everyone relax. The Murin-an tea ceremony is held every Saturday. Come around to the garden and savor a cup of freshly whisked green tea.

「土曜日の苔庭づくり」

10 月13日(土)午後、苔庭づくりイベントを開催いたしました。秋晴れの中、お庭を巡りながら数種類の苔の特徴をお伝えさせて頂いた後は、洋館でメインの苔庭づくりをスタート！
お庭の苔の案内中、苔の緑に感動されていたご様子でした。苔庭づくりでは、デザイン的に試行しながら苔の配置や樹木の置く位置、そして視点場のポイントも考慮して、お庭づくりをとても楽しんでくださいました。

On October 13 (Sat.), we held a moss garden making event. After touring the garden under a clear autumn sky to explain the characteristics of its many varieties of moss, we headed to the Western-style building to start making our moss gardens!
Everyone was impressed with the green of the moss in the garden and enjoyed experimenting with different designs and viewpoints to create gardens of their own.

無鄰菴庭園へお越しの多くのお客様が足を止められる芝地の低木の黄色い実。「これは何？食べられるの？」。はい、これはクサボケの実です。先日、この実で果実酒を作ってみました。春にはクサボケ酒（？）がいただけるかも。今から楽しみです。

「土曜日の苔庭づくり」／Miniature Japanese Moss Gardening Experoence

毎週土曜日、無鄰菴にある苔と同じ種類の本物の苔を利用して｢ミニ無鄰菴｣ 作りにチャレンジ。
終了後は使用した苔を瓶に入れて自分だけの苔リウムをつくってお持ち帰り頂けます。

Every Saturday, visitors challenge themselves to make a “mini-Murin-an” using real moss; the same kind of moss found inside Murin-an. After they finish, participants place the moss used in a bottle and take home their very own mossarium.

10月16日（火）は無鄰菴在釜（ざいふ）の日です。秋の観光シーズンですね。前回も東京からお茶会好きな女性のグループの方々や京都名所巡りの方など、ご旅行中のお客様が無鄰菴在釜を体験してくださいました。明治のお庭を眺めながらひと時をお過ごしください。スタッフ一同お待ちしております。

October 16 (Tues.) is zaifu day at Murin-an. The autumn tourist season has arrived. Last time, we were joined by a group of women from Tokyo who enjoy tea ceremony and also people participating in a tour of famous Kyoto sites. Come spend some time gazing at a garden from Japan’s Meiji period. Our staff awaits your visit.

「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson

10月10日（水）の午後、8畳間にて無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座「ツグミ」を開催いたしました。昼下がりは雨に見舞われ、お庭は静寂に包まれていましたが、講座の部屋では賑やかな笑い声が。ツグミの生態や地面生活のあれこれ、無鄰菴のお庭との関係などをお伝えさせて頂きました。次回は10月17日（水）14:00~14:30に、「イカル」についてお話いたします。

On October 10 (Wed.), we held a mini-lecture on the Dusky Thrush. We discussed the Dusky Thrush’s ecology, how it forages on the ground, and its relation to Murin-an. Our next lesson will be on October 17 (Wed.) 2:00 PM-2:30 PM and will cover the Japanese Grosbeak.

毎週水曜14:00「野鳥ミニ講座」開催します！10月10日は「ツグミ」についてのお話を致します。
11月にはこの野鳥が日本に到来することでしょう。秋から冬にかけて苔の上や芝地、日陰を歩き回る姿見られます。今回はツグミの生態についてお話させていただきます。
ご参加の方には鳥イラストのオリジナルポストカードもプレゼント。
お庭で見かけるその鳥たちの正体は？ 彼らのメッセージとは？無鄰菴とその周辺で見かける野鳥たちの生態や習性、豆知識などを楽しくご紹介します。

Today’s Bird is the Dusky Thrush.　These wild birds will arrive to Japan in November. We will be able to look at this bird’s style of walking around the moss, lawn field and shade forest.

お庭スタッフのまなざし／The Gardener’s View

爽やかな秋空の下、柿の木の剪定です。庭師は体のバランスを保ちながら枝から枝に移って剪定していきます。
木の上で、手を伸ばしたり、切った枝を落としたり、かがんだり、立ち上がったり、、次々と柔軟に流れるように作業していく庭師の姿に感心しながらシャッターを切りました。

Pruning a persimmon tree under an invigorating autumn sky. Gardeners have to keep their balance as they move from branch to branch to prune a tree. We took these shots of our gardener’s various postures that change so flexibly as he stretches his arm, clips the branches, stoops and then stands up again.
