「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson

12月5日（水）の午後、無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座「オオバン」を開催いたしました。
オオバンの親鳥の厳しい子育ての説明や水かき（弁足）の種類などにとても興味を持っていただけました。ご参加の方から「知識が増え、これから無鄰菴へ来る楽しみが増えました。ありがとうございます。」とのお声をいただきました。次回は12月12日（水）14:00~14:30に「オナガガモ」を開催いたします。

Wild Bird Lesson (Common Coot)
On the afternoon of December 5 (Wed.), we held a mini-lecture on the Common Coot.
Our participants were very interested to hear about the Common Coot’s strict child rearing practices and that there is even a species of it that has webbed feet!
Our next wild bird mini-lecture will be on December 12 (Wed.), 2:00-2:30 PM, and will cover the Northern Pintail.

セカイから見た日本を知る　文学作品の翻訳を通じて-第1回「百人一首」/Learning about Japan Through Translated Japanese Literature, No.1

12月2日（日）に8畳間にて武田雅子先生（アメリカ文学研究者、大阪樟蔭女子大学名誉教授）をお招きして文学の講座を開催致しました。今回は百人一首の英文から日本文学を学び、また事前にご参加いただいた方から一俳句を作成していただき、ご紹介頂きました。
ご参加の方から「美しい庭を背景に歌を音で聴くのが心落ち着く時間でした」「素敵な場所で講義を受けることができて楽しかったです」とのコメントを頂きました。第2回目は2019年2月18日（月）を予定しています。

On December 2 (Sun.), we held a lecture in the 8-tatami mat space by Professor Masako Takeda (Professor Emeritus of American Literature, Osaka Shoin Women’s University). This time we learned about Japanese literature through English translations of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu poetry anthology. We had participants write haiku beforehand and then read their poems during the lecture.
Our second literature lecture will be held on February 18, 2019 (Mon.).

洛陽総合高等学校の1年生のみなさまが職場見学にいらっしゃいました。

2018年12月5日に洛陽総合高等学校の1年生のみなさまが無鄰菴を訪問されました。庭園を巡りながら、日々の育成管理について説明させていただきました。「産業社会と人間」の「職場見学」の授業で「仕事とやりがい」について考えていただく機会になりました。

お庭スタッフのまなざし／The Gardener’s View

無鄰菴庭園の紅葉落葉の様子です。
かき集めたモミジ葉はまだ赤や黄色の彩色がとてもきれいに残っていました。まだ紅葉の庭園は継続中でございます。

庭散策 With 着物

12月1日（土）に紅葉庭園を見渡せる二階で庭散策 with 着物を開催致しました。
ご参加いただきましたお客様には、呉服屋さんに用意いただいた色とりどりの美しい色と柄の着物の中から、好きなものをお選びいただき、着付けをします。
着付けの後は庭を散策したり、一日体験の茶道教室に参加したり・・・。
晩秋のひと時をゆっくりとお楽しみいただきました。
次回は2019年1月26日（土）に開催致します。

Garden Walks and Kimonos
On December 1 (Sat.), we held a kimono wearing event on the second floor of the main building, where there is a full view of the garden’s autumn colors. Participants enjoyed choosing and putting on a kimono from the colorful assortment of beautiful kimono designs we had prepared by a Japanese apparel shop. After putting on their kimonos, they enjoyed a late autumn day of walking around the garden and experiencing our tea ceremony class.
Our next kimono wearing event will be held on January 26, 2019 (Sat.).

季節のしつらえと限定茶菓子

無鄰菴では、四季折々の「しつらえ」でお客様をお迎えさせていただいております。12月1日(土）には、二十四節気の「大雪」にちなんだ季節の花のしつらえを母屋にてお楽しみいただけます。また「大雪」に合わせたこの日限りのしつらえとお茶菓子（限定数）もご用意し、皆様のお越しをお待ちしております。
尚、こちらのお茶菓子は無くなり次第終了です。ご了承下さいませ。

お庭スタッフのまなざし／The Gardener’s View

無鄰菴庭園を囲む常緑樹の剪定が終わりました。
自然でさりげない仕上がりですが、いつもよりさらに美しく際立つ東山をご覧いただけることでしょう。
滝の方へ進んで行くと、右脇にヤブツバキが咲き始めています。ちらほらと咲く様はとても可愛らしく、思わず微笑んでしまいます。

Pruning of the evergreens surrounding Murin-an is now finished.
The finished look appears natural and casual, but provides an even clearer and more beautiful view of the Higashiyama Mountains.
Further in, there are Camellia Japonicas starting to bloom on the right side of the waterfall. The adorable way they pop up here and there is sure to bring a smile to your face.

「無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座」／Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson

11月28日（水）の午後、無鄰菴野鳥ミニ講座「コガモ」を開催いたしました。日本にやってくるカモの中では一番小さいサイズの種類であることとメスの子育ての解説に興味を持っていただきました。途中、クイズ形式で進行させていただき、楽しいひとときを過ごしていただきました。ご参加の方から「案内の方が分かりやすく意欲的に説明して下さり良かったです」「楽しいお話をありがとうございました」とのお声をいただきました。次回は12月5日（水）14:00~14:30に開催いたします。

Wednesday: Wild Bird Lesson（Common Teal）
On the afternoon of November 28 (Wed.), Murin-an held a mini-lecture on the Common Teal. Our participants were interested to learn that it is the smallest size duck to migrate to Japan and also about how the female Common Teal raises its ducklings. We even enjoyed a fun quiz along the way.
